Exam Fees



• Two pounds for postgraduate students (diploma, master and PhD) and fifty pounds for each year after the period identified in internal bylaws of faculties.

• On December 16, 1996, Postgraduate Studies and Research Council approved applying the recommendation of the Supreme Council of Postgraduate Studies at the Supreme Council of Universities. Based on this recommendation, a student pays tuition fees for each academic year from date of approval from Faculty Council for registration till date of approval from Faculty Council for validity, discussion committee formation and deposition of a copy of the dissertation at the Faculty. If a modification is required to be introduced to the dissertation, a student continues to pay fees.

• Subject teacher is exempted from paying fees: In its session held on December 20, 1995 recommended exempting subject teachers from paying determined fees mentioned in article 271 of the executive bylaw of Universities Organization Law. It recommended also to consider:

• The right of students who withdrew their files at their will to get the fees back.

• The right of students who have been accepted by universities to get the fees back.

• To notify faculties with the fact that papers of application for postgraduate studies must include ratification by a student that he is not entitled to get the fees back if he withdraws his file at his will after payment of the fees.

• In its session held on February 26, 1997, Postgraduate Studies and Research Council decided the following:

• There is no approval for students who were previously enrolled at postgraduate studies to get back their fees because they withdrew their files at their will coping with the opinion sent from the Central Auditing Organization (CAO) according to which the date of payment is the ratified one not the date of sanctioning students’ acceptance.

• Students are entitled to get back charges and tuition fees if the University refused to accept their enrollment.

• Faculties must take necessary commitments regarding the fact that students who apply for postgraduate studies cannot take back the charges or tuition fees if they withdraw their files at their will.

• The Council decided to amend the decree of the Supreme Council of Universities made in its session held on October 9, 1997 regarding the determined charges for the services offered to postgraduate students at universities to be as follows: Assistant lecturers, demonstrators, scholarship students at universities, assistant researchers at centers and research institutes, in addition to demonstrators and assistant lecturers at faculties of Al-Azhar University are exempted from the determined charge for the services offered to postgraduate students at universities when they enroll and register for postgraduate studies at faculties of universities under Universities Organization Law No. 49 of 1972.

• In its session that began on May 11, 2002 and continued to May 19, 2002, the Supreme Council of Universities approved exemption of researchers and assistant researchers affiliated to centers and research institutes of Ministry of Scientific Research from the determined charge for registration in postgraduate studies. They are treated the same as demonstrators at Egyptian universities.

• On May 15, 2002, Postgraduate Studies and Research Council decided :

• First: To continue applying the decree of Postgraduate Studies Council previously issued on December 26, 1997 as follows:

• Students who withdraw their files at their will are not entitled to get back charges and tuition fees.

• Students whom the University refused to accept them are entitled to get back charges and tuition fees.

• Second: Students are entitled to get back charges and tuition fees if they have been distributed to divisions they do not want to study at.

• Third: Students are not entitled to get back charges and tuition fees as long as they are distributed to divisions according to the wills order document presented by the student based on his choice.

• Fourth: A Faculty must prepare a card for indentifying students’ wills and must not accept students in divisions they have not chosen.
