Open Education




The open education system is dedicated to contribute to the democracy of education as a human right, surpassing the limits of traditional education and taking advantage of the tremendous scientific progress in information technology and means of communication for it makes the scientific material within the reach of the student wherever he is. Moreover, it grants an opportunity for those who did not have access to University education for reasons beyond their will; such as the inability to obtain the total grades that qualify them for admission to the university or lack of required financial resources or their need to work to improve their standard of living


Out of keenness of Tanta University on activating its role in serving local and regional community, open education system was established at the University at faculties of Commerce and Law with the purpose of participation in democracy of education which is considered one of human rights that goes beyond limits of traditional education and which benefits from the massive scientific progress in information technology and means of communication. Hence, this system makes scientific material available for student wherever and whatever age he is.

Decree of Open Education Administrative Board

* Decree of the Open Education Board of Directors Financial Discounts Offered by the University:

* Conditions of registration in the Open Education Program

  1. Having the general secondary certificate, a technical diploma or an acknowledged university certificate five years after having the secondary certificate or an equivalent one.
  2. As for incoming students (i.e. non-Egyptians), the embassy of their country must agree before admitting them. In addition, the procedures stipulated in Universities Organization Law and in its executive bylaw must be followed.

Remark :
In its session held on July 16, 2009, the Supreme Council of Universities issued a decree which allows admission of students with general secondary certificate to be admitted from the academic year 2009-2010 to open education programs at Egyptian universities in all governorates of the republic, without applying the condition that five years must pass after having the certificate.

The Decree of the Supreme Council of Universities in its Session Held on July 31, 2010 to Approve the Following:

To allow students, who are dismissed or who have finished failure times, to be admitted to Egyptian universities in the system of open education according to the following:

  • • Students, dismissed because they have finished failure times at a faculty affiliated to universities functioning according to Universities Organization Law, can be admitted to open education programs provided that they are not admitted to specialization counterpart to the ones in which they have finished failure times. .
  • ا• Students, dismissed because they have finished failure times at Al-Azhar University, can be admitted to open education programs at Egyptian universities provided that they are not admitted to specialization counterpart to the ones in which they have finished failure times.

* About Open Education Centre at Tanta University

On June 11, 2008, University President issued decree No. (743). It was about establishment of a centre for open education at the University upon a decree issued by the University Council on March 30, 2008. .
Its specialties are:

  • To implement the general policy and basic services that offers open education to students.
  • To coordinate among the faculties' sub-centres that implement open education programs.

The Central Administrative Board

A Central Administrative Board has been formed for open education programs at Tanta University faculties by decree number 89 issued on January 18, 2010

Manager of the Centre Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Esaily

Specialties of the Administrative Board are:

  • To set the general policies of the Centre.
  • To supervise and follow up open education programs offered by the participant faculties.
  • To set the general financial rules applied to the system.
  • To supervise affairs of education and student affiliated to this system .
  • To ratify the final account and the financial status at the end of each financial year.
