First: Admission through the Coordination Office for Admission to Universities and Institutes:


  • Admission of Egyptian students who have General Secondary School certificate (E-coordination)
  • - In the framework of the electronic government system bolstered by the state and its authorities, the Ministry of high Education has offered the electronic coordination service to students who passed the exam of the Egyptian general secondary certificate in 2007. This service was used when nominating students to be accepted at faculties and institutes in the academic year 2007-2008 after cancellation of paper-based coordinate system.
    - The electronic coordination system depends on utilizing the great development in computers, information technology, communication and networks. According to this system, a student submits his or her papers to the Faculty after being nominated to study at the Faculty and not before the nomination like the paper-based coordinate system.

  • Admission of Egyptian Students who have equivalent certificates (E-coordination). .
  • The Coordination Office for Admission to Universities and Institutes began to accept the Egyptian students obtaining equation certificates through the electronic coordination starting from the academic year 2008/2009. Some Arab and foreign certificates are equated in: the Arab Republic of Egypt, other Arab countries, African countries, Asian countries, Australia and the Americas.   • Admission of the technical diploma students (paper-based coordination) .
  • - Until the academic year 2008-2009, students who got the following certificates are still accepted:
    1- The technical secondary certificates with the three-year system (the commercial, agricultural, industrial certificates and their counterparts) as well as the diploma of the nursing technical secondary schools.
    2- The technical diplomas and technical schools with the five-year system (the commercial, industrial, complementary studies and teacher preparation, hotels, social service, nursing and agricultural certificates).
    These students are admitted via the paper-based coordinate system. The student withdraws his or her file then submits it to the Coordination Office for Admission to Universities and Institutes. After that, students are distributed to faculties and institutes according to their desires.
    - To find out the most important regulations, you could visit the main coordination office in the University Hostel at Cairo University, Giza or any branch of the office in districts.


Second: Admission through the University :

  • Admission of higher qualification students (students who have obtained BS or BA degree) .
  • - Students who got the Bachelor's degree or Licentiate according to irregular attendance system at faculties of Arts, Law or Commerce are admitted if they meet these conditions:

    1- Duration of study to get the higher qualification from faculties or institute must not be less than four academic years.
    2- Study to get the higher qualification must be preceded by gaining the secondary certificate or an equivalent one.
    3- Study to get the higher qualification cannot be preceded Al-Azhar Certificate of Secondary Education or the Technical Diploma with the three-year system unless these certificates are equated to the general secondary certificate.

    In addition to the above ones, there are other conditions for admission to Faculty of Arts:
    1- Admitted students must have higher qualifications (Licentiate or Bachelor's degree) and must be graduates of University faculties and institutes affiliated to universities functioning according to Universities Organization Law No. 49 of 1972.
    2- Annually admitted students must be no more than 200 (upon a University Council decree) provided that there is an announcement about selecting them before the beginning of the academic year according to the University applied systems. .
    3- If applicants are more than the required number, selection of applicants with higher qualification is based on the general estimation of the Bachelor's degree or Licentiate.
    4- A student is admitted according to the irregular attendance system and abides by paying the charge for the educational service of this system.
    5- The student pay 150 pounds charge for being admitted to the Faculty and 50 pounds for a pre-test given to ensure the student's readiness to study at the Faculty and to the scientific specialization which he or she is nominated to study. Students have the choice to submit the papers in the academic year that is suitable to them with no commitment to apply during a determined period after their graduation.
  • Admission of Blind Students .
  • Blind students can be admitted as regular ones at Faculty of Arts, Tanta University with exception to the determined minimum marks for admission according to the following conditions:
    1- A student must have got the general secondary certificate from one of 'Al-Nor Wa Al-Amal' schools, which are schools for the blind.
    2- A student must have got 50% at least in the general secondary certificate.
    3- A student must meet the conditions and must have studied subjects qualifying to admission to the Faculty.
    4- The student's general secondary certificate must be a recent one.
    5- Sudanese students who have settled permanently in the Arab Republic of Egypt are admitted with the blind students according to the applied rules.
    - At all cases, the papers submitted by these students are reviewed in comparison to the result of the general secondary certificate exam of 'Al-Nor Wa Al-Amal' schools before making final decision of admitting them.
  • Admission of Disabled Students .
  • The disabled students (special needs students) are admitted as regular ones in faculties of Arts, Law or Commerce with exception to the determined minimum marks for admission according to the following conditions:
    1- Disability is preventing these students from movement and writing down lectures unless they are helped by others, for admission to faculties of Arts or Law.
    2- Disability is preventing these students from movement unless they are helped by others but it does not prevent them from writing down lectures, for admission to Faculty of Commerce.
    3- The student's general secondary certificate must be a recent one.
    4- A student must have got the general secondary certificate from one of Gharbia governorate schools.
    5- Sudanese students who have settled permanently in the Arab Republic of Egypt are admitted with the disabled students according to the applied rules.
    - At all cases, the papers submitted by students are reviewed in comparison to the result of the general secondary certificate exam. .

  • Admission of the Dismissed Students:
    • Students dismissed from the faculties and institutes affiliated to the universities subjected to the Universities Organization Law.
    • These students are admitted according to the irregular attendance system at faculties of Arts, Law or Commerce if they meet the following conditions:
      1- A student must have got the minimum marks total of admission to the faculty in the year of gaining the general secondary certificate or the present year (year of admission), according to the best total of them.
      2- Dismissed students, who have got the technical diploma with the three-year system and who succeeded in the complementary exam of equation to the general secondary certificate, are excepted from the total marks condition, in addition to the students who have got the technical diploma with the five-year system provided that a student is dismissed from one of Tanta University faculties, has the technical diploma in the local region of the University or living with his or her family in this region.
      3- The duration between the student's dismissal and his admission must be no more than two successive academic years, two weeks at least before beginning of the second term exams or the final exams.
      4- A student must not be dismissed from a faculty counterpart to the one he or she would like to join .
      5- A student cannot be dismissed more than once. A student who has been dismissed more than once cannot be admitted.
    • Students dismissed from military faculties. .
    • The system of admitting students dismissed from military faculties is determined according to kind of dismissal as follows:
      - If a student has been dismissed due to finishing of failure times, he is dealt with according to rules of admitting dismissed students from the University faculties and institutes affiliated to the universities functioning according to Universities Organization Law No. 49 of 1972.
      - If a student has been dismissed because he is not valid for military life, he is admitted to the faculty if he has gained the determined minimum marks total required for admission to this faculty in the year when he got the general secondary certificate and if he has met the applied admission conditions. The student's admission must be in the same year of dismissal.
      - If dismissal has been due to resignation acceptance, the student is admitted to the faculty as long as he has got the minimum marks total required for admission to this faculty in the year when he got the general secondary certificate and if he has met the applied admission conditions. The student's admission must be in the year that follows his resignation acceptance, i.e. a resigned student in the academic year 2008-2009 with accepted resignation before September 21, 2008, begins study in the new academic year 2008-2009.
    • Students dismissed from the faculties of Al-Azhar University .
    • - Students who dismissed because they finished failure times at one of Al-Azher University faculties are admitted according to the irregular attendance system to faculties of Arts, Law or Commerce at the University, provided that the student has got the minimum marks total required at the faculty which he or she would like to join in the year of gaining the general secondary certificate or the present year (year of admission), according to the best total of them.
      - As faculties of Arts, Law and Commerce do not accept students with Al-Azhar Certificate of Secondary Education, the Supreme Council of Universities has decided to calculate a titular total for these students' Azharite secondary certificate after subtracting the marks of religious subjects, in order to admit them to a faculty at any university functioning according to Universities Organization Law after their dismissal. This titular total is compared to the minimum marks total in the general secondary certificate for admission to the faculty he or she would like to join.
    • Students dismissed from the Police Academy .
    • Students dismissed from Faculty of Police are admitted to faculties affiliated to universities functioning according to Universities Organization Law and the system of irregular attendance at the University faculties of Arts, Law or Commerce if they have got the minimum marks total required at the faculty which they would like to join in the year of gaining the general secondary certificate (Egyptian, Arab, foreign or Azharite certificate) and if they have studies the required subjects to be admitted to these faculties. A student who had disciplinary dismissal can not be admitted.

Note: Students who were dismissed due to the withdrawal of papers from the faculties where they were enrolled or the non-payment of tuition fees are not allowed to be admitted. .


* Guided Affiliation

- The irregular attendance system was created by a decree from the Supreme Council of Universities in its session No. 334 held on August 15, 1992. It was applied from the academic year 1992-1993 at faculties of Art, Law and Commerce. Next, it was applied at faculties of Social Service. This system accepts the following students:
1- Students who have got a recent general secondary certificate (via the Coordination Office)
2- Students who have got a recent equated general secondary certificate (via the Coordination Office)
3- Students who have got higher qualifications (via the University)
4- Students dismissed from counterpart faculties (via the University)

- This system is considered one of private education kinds. It was introduced to the Egyptian universities functioning according to Universities Organization Law. The state does not pay any money for this system from its budget of universities or bears any financial burdens resulting from application of this system.

In the case of the first classes

In Senior Classes

** Transfering from one faculty to another must be through the E-coordination.

** In order to transfer, the student must obtain the minimum of marks required to be admitted at the faculty he wants to be transformed to or must be from the 10% transfers.

 

** The enrollment statement is used in transferring the enrollment from one faculty to another whether it is similar or not. .

** If the student is going to transfer his/her enrollment to a faculty which is not similar, he has to obtain the minimum of admission marks to be accepted at the destined faculty in the year of his/her General Secondary School certificate. If the student was dismissed from the faculty he was transferred from, he would be admitted either upon the minimum of admission marks in the year of his/her General Secondary School certificate or the year of his/her dismissal.

** If the student is going to transfer his/her enrollment to a similar faculty, he has to succeed and be admitted to the next class, provided that the number of obligatory equation subjects are no more than five, including the reset subjects other than the subjects that are not counted in the total mark..

* Excuses

  • Number of excuses became unlimited after issuance of the Constitutional Court judgment which stipulated that the second paragraph of article 80 in the executive bylaw of universities organization is not constitutional.
  • The first and second excuses are under authority of the Faculty Council but the other excuses are under authority of the University Council.
  • The excuse for the exam of one subject, exams of one term or of two terms exams is counted as one excuse.
  • The student pays tuition fees.
  • The excuse is submitted before, during or after the exam directly. It has to be related to a very strong excuse as follows :
    * death
    * Chronic disease
    * An emergency
    * Admission to public hospital
    * Emergency surgery
  • This excuse is ratified by a report endorsed by the specialized medical committee at Faculty of Medicine.

* Suspension of Enrollment

1- The excuse which is determined by article 69 and the University Council decree includes the following cases:

- Recruitment .
- Summon.
- Long-term illness.
- Detention or imprisonment.
- Spouse Accompaniment if he or she is a member of teaching staff or assistant staff .
3-The student does not pay tuition fees. .
