In Enhancement of Decent Life Initiative, Medical Care Services Were Offered to 957 Patients at Tanta University’s Convoy in Tanta Province

1500 books were distributed to students of the preparatory certificate in the village.

    In coordination with Decent Life Foundation, Tanta University organized a comprehensive developmental convoy to Mahallat Marhoum village located in Tanta province to examine patients and to give them medicaments for free under patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President, in attendance of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, with participation of Prof. Mohamed Al-Shebeny and Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, vice deans of faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy for community service and environmental development.    

     At the convoy, 957 patients were examined in 12 clinics and were given medicaments for free. In addition, 91 cases were transferred to Tanta University Hospitals to get the needed checkups and to continue their treatment for free. Literacy exams were taken by 30 citizens. Veterinary care services were presented to about 1251 head of cattle and birds with participation of many academic staff members, doctors and pharmacists.

    In addition, Prof. Mahmoud Selim declared that 1500 books were distributed to students of the preparatory certificate in the village according to the instructions given by Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President. It is worth noting that patients were examined at the convoy in many medical specialties as follows: 81 patients were examined in neurosurgery, 96 in pediatrics, 129 in orthopedic surgery, 108 in dermatology, 104 in internal medicine, 21 in urology, 98 in ENT, 24 in general surgery, 86 in the chest clinic, 36 in neuropsychiatry, 141 in ophthalmology and 33 in cardiovascular surgery.

     Furthermore, academic staff from Faculty of Nursing gave educational lectures to citizens of the villages on self-check for breast cancer, diabetes and hypertension, psychiatric diseases, how to discover and treat them, maternal and neonatal health, complications of diabetes and how to deal with diabetic foot.
