In Enhancement of Decent Life Initiative, Medical Care Services Were Offered to 1064 Patients at Tanta University’s Convoy in Samannud Province

    In coordination with Decent Life Foundation, Tanta University organized a comprehensive developmental convoy to Mit Habib village located in Samannud province to examine patients and to give them medicaments for free under patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President, and Prof. Mahmoud Selim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, with participation of Prof. Mohamed Al-Shebeny and Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, vice deans of faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy for community service and environmental development.  

    At the convoy, 1064 patients were examined in 14 clinics and were given medicaments for free. In addition, 57 cases were transferred to Tanta University Hospitals to get the needed checkups and to continue their treatment for free. Literacy exams were taken by 40 citizens. Veterinary care services were presented to more than 1706 head of cattle and birds with participation of many academic staff members, doctors and pharmacists.

    It is worth noting that patients were examined at the convoy in many medical specialties as follows: 56 patients were examined in neurosurgery, 111 in pediatrics, 147 in orthopedic surgery, 104 in dermatology, 113 in internal medicine, 43 in urology, 117 in ENT, 19 in general surgery, 53 in the chest clinic, 17 in neuropsychiatry, 159 in ophthalmology, 22 in cardiovascular surgery, 27 in dentistry and 76 in the analysis clinic.  

    Moreover, academic staff from Faculty of Nursing gave educational lectures to citizens of the villages on self-check for breast cancer, diabetes and hypertension, psychiatric diseases, how to discover and treat them, maternal and neonatal health, complications of diabetes and how to deal with diabetic foot.
