In Enhancement of Decent Life Initiative, Medical Care Services Were Offered to 1119 Patients at Tanta University’s Convoy in Samannud Province

 

     In coordination with Decent Life Foundation, Tanta University organized a comprehensive developmental convoy to Al-Aziziya village located in Samannud province to examine patients and to give them medicaments for free under patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President, and Prof. Mahmoud Selim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in coordination with Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of University Hospitals’ Board, with participation of Prof. Mohamed Al-Shebeny, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Vice Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development.

    At the convoy, 1119 patients were examined in 15 clinics and were given medicaments for free. In addition, 65 cases were transferred to Tanta University Hospitals to get the needed checkups and to continue their treatment for free. Literacy exams were taken by 50 citizens. Veterinary care services were presented to more than 573 head of cattle and birds with participation of many academic staff members, doctors and pharmacists.

    It is worth noting that patients were examined at the convoy in many medical specialties as follows: 62 patients were examined in neurosurgery, 136 in pediatrics, 96 in orthopedic surgery, 101 in dermatology, 106 in internal medicine, 57 in urology, 95 in ENT, 18 in general surgery, 55 in the chest clinic, 16 in neuropsychiatry, 134 in ophthalmology, 22 in cardiovascular surgery, 139 in the clinic of health initiatives, 76 in the analysis clinic, and 15 in family planning clinic.   

    Moreover, academic staff from Faculty of Nursing gave educational lectures to citizens of the villages on early detection of breast cancer, its symptoms and self-check for it, diabetes and hypertension, psychiatric diseases, how to discover and treat them, maternal and neonatal health, complications of diabetes and how to deal with diabetic foot.
